Sailing Lessons in Vancouver

Sailing lessons around the Strait of Georgia. Based out of the Vancouver Yacht Club, I offer sailing trips where you’ll learn the ropes of sailing while taking in the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Here’s what you can expect on one of my trips: Getting Started at the Vancouver Yacht Club We’ll meet at the Vancouver Yacht Club, where I’ll show you around the boat and go over safety procedures. You’ll get familiar with the vessel and the sailing equipment, and I’ll give you a quick introduction to sailing terminology to make sure you’re comfortable before we set sail. Setting Sail & Getting Hands-On Once we leave the dock, we’ll head out into the Strait of Georgia. I’ll walk you through the process of trimming the sails, steering, and navigating the boat. Whether you’re a beginner or have some sailing experience, you’ll quickly get hands-on and feel the thrill of controlling the boat on the open water. Exploring & Learning on the Water As we sail, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to learn new skills. I’ll teach you how to read the wind, adjust the sails, and handle the boat in different conditions. We’ll also enjoy the incredible views of Vancouver’s coastline and the surrounding islands. Every trip is different, and you’ll always leave with something new to take away. A Relaxing Break Along the way, we’ll drop anchor in a calm bay or cove. It’s a great chance to relax, enjoy the surroundings, and perhaps share a snack. I’ll also share some local history and fun facts about the area if you’re interested. Heading Back & Wrapping Up After our break, we’ll make our way back to the Vancouver Yacht Club. You’ll have another chance to practice what you’ve learned, whether that’s taking the wheel again or simply soaking in the beauty of the ride home.
